The Northumbria Health and Care Academy
The Academy offers high-quality education and hands-on training for those pursuing careers as nursing associates, nurses, midwives, or allied health professionals. With a faculty of experienced clinicians actively working in clinical settings, students gain real-world insights and practical experience, supported by an exciting partnership with the University of Sunderland. Situated at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the academy provides unparalleled access to live clinical environments, empowering students to thrive in modern healthcare.

By car
The Health and care Academy is accessible from the A189 at East Cramlington, to the north of the Moor Farm roundabout. The hospital (Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital) is signposted from the northbound and southbound slip roads closest to the academy.

By public transport

Visitor parking
Visitors are welcome to park in the rear car park of the academy. Please take a ticket to raise the barrier upon entry.
Student parking
Students have the opportunity to apply for a car parking permit at our academy, which allows access to designated staff parking areas. Please note that a permit does not guarantee a parking space. Staff members are required to pay for parking, with charges based on their pay grade and hours worked.
Disabled parking
Designated parking spaces are available at the front of the academy for disabled drivers displaying a valid blue badge permit, these spaces are provided free of charge.
Electric vehicle charging
There are electric vehicle charging points available, to be used only while charging. A maximum stay of 4 hours applies, and charges apply.
Bicycle parking
There is bike storage at the front and back of the academy.
Please note: The car park at the front of the academy is reserved for patients visiting The Northumbria Way GP practice.
